YOUR SHOWERS ENQUIRY
Plan your showers work
Discuss shower repair or installation with the actual hot-water system, controls and enclosure described. Plumbing, drainage and any electrical work should be identified separately.
What to include in your enquiry
- The shower type, make and model, if known
- The fault or replacement you want
- Water supply, access and any fittings already purchased
- State whether you own, rent or manage the property and who can authorise this showers work
What should the quote cover?
Compare diagnosis, compatible parts or replacement, isolation, testing and reinstatement. Clarify who carries out any electrical work and whether opening tiles or boxing is included; a new visible shower unit is not the whole installation.
Can any replacement shower use the existing connections?
Compatibility needs establishing for the actual plumbing and electrical arrangement. Ask for the proposed product and required changes to be explained before purchase.
Property and responsibility checks
Give the actual hot-water and electrical arrangements before changing a shower. For retained finishes, agree access and making good; no supplier pressure or system type is assumed for Newmarket homes.
- Identify the actual property, asset and owner before commissioning changes
- Include relevant plans, reports or permission information; do not assume approval
- Agree access, protection and making good where the work affects retained surfaces

The shower type changes the enquiry
Quick answer
Discuss shower repair or installation with the actual hot-water system, controls and enclosure described. Plumbing, drainage and any electrical work should be identified separately.
Request help with a shower fault or replacement, with its type, water supply and any electrical requirements assessed for the proposed work.
An electric shower, a mixer supplied by the hot-water system and a pumped arrangement can require different investigations and competence. Give the make, model and symptom if known: weak flow, unstable temperature and leakage are different jobs. Do not open electrical housings or continue using unsafe equipment. Ask the business to confirm the appropriate assessment, trade skills and repair scope.
Leaks during use or afterward
Water escaping from pipework, the fitting, waste connection or surrounding enclosure may need different repairs. Describe where water is seen and when; a stain downstairs does not prove the exact source. A plumbing repair and damaged-wall or seal-system work should have clear responsibility. Avoid assuming a fresh bead of sealant resolves every cause. If a ceiling is unstable or water reaches electrics, stop using the affected installation and obtain direct appropriate help.
Useful next steps
Mixer temperature and water-system compatibility
Changes in temperature or performance need assessment of the fitting and supplying system. Ask what tests establish the cause before a cartridge or whole shower is replaced. A new product must suit the actual arrangement and manufacturer requirements. The visible fitting is only part of the installation. Describe whether other hot or cold outlets are affected and any recent system work. We do not prescribe temperature adjustments or promise that a replacement mixer fixes an unresolved hot-water fault.
Electric showers need qualified electrical work
Electrical Safety First advises registered competent electrical installation for electric showers. Plumbing connections do not establish electrical suitability. Confirm who assesses and performs each part, including relevant certification. A higher-rated replacement is not automatically compatible with the existing circuit. Keep away from wet or damaged electrical equipment and obtain direct appropriate help for a safety concern. We do not certify the circuit, select its rating or provide DIY connection instructions.
Check the complete shower proposal
Explain whether the work repairs an existing shower or changes the enclosure, valve or supply arrangement. Ask about compatibility with the actual water/heating system, drainage, waterproofing and access for future maintenance. Electrical work and concealed fabric repairs should be clearly identified as included or separate.
What should this quotation actually cover?

- Which system and fault are being assessed?
- Who handles plumbing, electrics and surrounding surfaces?
- What product, testing and documentation are included?

Completion and an enquiry
Ask for the work record, relevant installation documents and product care information. Have the agreed operation and surrounding work explained at handover. If a symptom persists, give the business the earlier findings and scope. For an enquiry, send postcode, shower type/model and safe symptom history. We review suitable local requests; sending details does not book a visit, guarantee parts or confirm that a chosen shower is suitable without assessment.
